Painting

I am in the middle of repainting my bedroom, so lately I've found myself pondering the process of painting a room.

Nail polish can be removed. Wall paper can be removed. Paint can be removed from old furniture using sandpaper or brushes with paint thinner.  Paint, however, is not typically removed from an entire wall. To my knowledge, there isn't a special product that is capable of simply wiping away the past layers to start fresh.... When painting walls one typically adds layer after layer. Tonight I began thinking about the stories that walls can tell through their layers of paint.
People, like walls, are made up of layers and layers that tell their story. Layers of experiences shape who we are and who we've become. Life experiences, for better or worse, are not simply removed... They become a part of our story.

My room currently reflects a work in progress that is full of unknowns, yet full of possibility. Buried beneath four layers of paint, my walls tell the story of a girl with bright dreams, a bright personality, and bright blue walls to match.

p.s.- Thankfully the burnt orange shag carpet can and will be removed.
